You won't believe what my day has been like. I have had the best day and the worst day today. This moring I got my CPR test moved to next Friday, I got a package from my mom, and my last class was cancelled, but the worst was yet to come. Here is the background:
The day I came back to school from winter break, I got a strange phone call. The guy wouldn't give any specifics to my day or to me and it was so strange that I hung up on him. Then a couple weeks into the semester my mom got a similar call for me and she hung up on the woman. Then last week she received an important notice for me. So she sent it to me in my package I got to day. This is the end of the background.
I opened my package and pulled out all the great stuff she had sent me. Inside of a new sketchpad was this letter. I opened it and it said to call a number to get my million dollars I had won. I thought something was strange but my roommate called the number and gave them the ID number that came in the letter. She handed me the phone and that is when my day went sour. The money was a lie to get me to verify the information they had on me. The guy went on a while about magazines trying to get me to order some. I continually said no and was about to hang up when something told me not to. I stayed on and he transfered me to his supervisor. She in turn told me that he had selected magazines for me and when I told her I was not interested she apologized and said she would be sending me a couple free and some free gifts. After repeatedly telling her know she wanted to comfirm the information she had . She read me my school phone number, my home address, and my home bank account debet card number. I got scared and said that they were correct before thinking. When she hung up with me, I had no idea what was going on. I immediately called my mom and told her what happened. She had me call our bank. When I talked to the guy there he asked for my debit card number so he could check for any action. He immediately noticed a charge for over sixty dollars within the past minute. He told me I should close my account and open another one. I told him I was away at college and could not. He said I should at least close out the debit card untill I could get home and I told him to go ahead. Then I thanked him and called my mom back. She said she was going to close our account today and open a new one. She is going to send me some money untill she can get me a new card. I still do not know how they got all that information on me. Some of you who read this will have probably already heard this from me by the time you read this so I am sorry for the double dose. The rest of you this is a warning.
